South Africa uses the US Keyboard layout with the # (hash) on the number 3, $ on the number 4. The UK keyboard has the Pound symbol on the number 3.

The mistake people usually make when setting up a new PC system for south Africa, is selecting the UK keyboard layout instead of the US layout. The keyboard must be set to the US layout.
